Working beyond retirement ‘unpopular’ among teachers and healthcare workers

Research conducted among teachers and healthcare workers in Ireland and the US found that working beyond retirement was

“an unpopular idea for most, actively feared by some and regarded as inequitable”.


The paper is among almost 50 to be presented at a major international conference on the ‘Gender and health impacts of policies extending working life’, hosted on November 22-23 by NUI Galway and COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology), the culmination of several years of research by a network across Europe and beyond.
